James Hardie siding, installed right for a Houston climate.
Fiber cement lap, board-and-batten, and shingle profiles from the only manufacturer that engineers siding specifically for Gulf Coast heat and humidity. Full replacements. Storm repairs. Real crews, not sub-contracted brand ambassadors.
Bad siding doesn’t stay a siding problem for long.
Siding is your home’s weather envelope. When vinyl warps, wood rots, or old fiber cement absorbs moisture, the failure never stops at the surface — it moves into the sheathing, the framing, and eventually the drywall inside your house. In a humid Gulf Coast city, cheap or aging siding is a countdown clock.
Warped & faded vinyl
Texas sun bakes vinyl siding until it warps, cracks, and loses its color. Once it’s chalky, no amount of soft washing brings it back — you’re looking at replacement.
Rotted wood behind siding
Water gets behind old wood, engineered wood, or improperly-flashed vinyl and sits. Framing rot shows up on the outside years after it starts on the inside.
Hail & wind damage
Houston sees hail every spring and hurricane winds every fall. Vinyl cracks and cheap composites shatter. Insurance often covers replacement — most homeowners never file.
Termite & pest damage
Wood siding is a Gulf Coast termite buffet. Even engineered wood softens over time and lets pests through. Fiber cement is one of the few materials they don’t touch.
Gulf Coast humidity eats every material. Except one.
Houston sits in James Hardie’s HZ5® climate zone — the classification the manufacturer created for hot, humid, hurricane-prone regions. Hardie engineers a completely different board formulation for our market than they sell in Denver or Minneapolis. It’s denser, more moisture-resistant, and factory-treated for coastal air.
Vinyl warps in Houston summers. Wood rots in Houston winters. Engineered wood swells and softens over 8–12 years. Fiber cement made for our zone doesn’t do any of that — and it carries a 30-year non-prorated substrate warranty and a 15-year ColorPlus finish warranty, transferable to the next homeowner.

Full re-side, or targeted storm repair — one honest quote for each.
Some homes need every plank replaced. Others need one wall, one gable, or one section of hail damage handled properly. We do both — and we quote you the exact scope your house actually needs, not the one that pads the invoice.
Whole-home Hardie replacement

Three James Hardie profiles. One matches your home.
Every home has a look — modern farmhouse, traditional colonial, coastal, ranch. James Hardie manufactures three main siding profiles, each with a specific architectural fit. We’ll walk your elevation and recommend the profile that matches, not just the one we have in stock.
Which profile fits which house.
The mix matters. Most of our Houston installs are 80% lap on the main body, with board-and-batten or shingle accents on gables, entryways, or dormers. It reads modern, timeless, and gives the elevation dimension you can’t get from a single profile.

Three things that separate a real Hardie install from a fast one.
James Hardie publishes a detailed installation manual that most crews skim. Skipping the weather-resistive barrier, using the wrong fasteners, or mis-flashing a window is how a 30-year siding warranty gets voided in year two. We install to Hardie’s HZ5® spec exactly.
Weather barrier + flashing first
Before a single plank goes up, we install proper housewrap, kick-out flashing at every roof-to-wall junction, window head/pan flashing, and butt-joint flashing. It’s the layer no one sees and every water intrusion depends on.
Blind-nailed, stainless fasteners
Hardie’s spec calls for blind-nailing (hidden in the top of each plank, covered by the plank above) with stainless-steel siding nails. Galvanized nails rust and streak white. Face-nailing voids the warranty. We follow spec.
Gaps at every penetration
Every window trim, corner board, and vertical joint needs a caulk-ready gap sized to Hardie’s spec. Too tight and the boards buckle when they expand. Too wide and water gets in. We pull the reveal to spec.

What a proper Hardie install does to an older Houston home.

Roof-to-wall transitions are where 90% of siding water damage starts.
DC Pines is a roofing company first. That means when we tear off your existing siding, we’re inspecting the flashing behind it, the kick-outs at your roof-to-wall junctions, the head flashing above every window, and the drainage plane behind the sheathing.
A siding-only contractor sees planks. A roofer sees the water path. That’s why our re-sides don’t come back with a leak call two winters later.
Four steps from first call to a rewrapped house.
Free elevation walkthrough
We walk every elevation, photograph the failure points, measure square footage, check flashing and roof-to-wall details, and note what’s underneath. You get a written scope same-day or next-day.
Color & profile session
We bring physical Hardie ColorPlus® samples and Hardie profile boards to your driveway. You see the exact color on your home in your light, not on a phone screen. Then we lock the scope and the number.
Tear-off & weather-out
We remove the old siding one elevation at a time, replace any damaged sheathing, install proper housewrap and flashing, and dry-in each wall before the next tear-off. Your house stays weather-tight every night.
Install & final walkthrough
Hardie planks blind-nailed to spec, corner boards and trim installed, caulking pulled clean, and a walkthrough before final payment. You get warranty paperwork, ColorPlus registration, and touch-up paint.
